Environmental Risks

We continue to examine a number of residential brownfield site developments on an ongoing basis.

The above can entail either an upfront assessment of a development proposal including a recommendation to rectify any hazards which may be identified or alternatively by way of individual valuation instructions.

Once satisfied that a proposed development is to a standard that will not compromise the future values of properties built, mortgage funding is generally made available to applicants meeting our normal lending criteria.

Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre

During 2005 Northern Rock developed the link with the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre. The relationship has continued in 2006 though updating, redesigning and re-printing a further 550,000 energy efficiency advice leaflets.

The leaflets are being enclosed in customer mortgage statement mailings in 2006, to be completed and returned to the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre. Individual home energy advice is supplied to the customer based on specific responses to questions contained in the leaflet, together with information on approximate cost/benefit of energy efficiency projects and grants that are available for the works suggested.
