Each company in the Northern Rock Group of companies has delivered the required notification to the Information Commissioner and complies with the Data Protection Act 1998. Sources and use of your information

By ‘information', we refer to personal and financial data that may have been provided to us either by you the customer, third parties such as other organisations or credit reference agencies, the electoral role and ways in which you use our products and services.

Northern Rock uses industry standard methods, including 128 bit encryption to ensure that all the transactions processed via the site are secure.

  • Take care when storing and disposing of your account information. Take simple steps such as shredding printed material.

  • Treat e-mails you receive with caution and be wary of e-mails or calls asking you to reveal any security details. Neither the police nor Northern Rock will ever contact you to ask you to reveal your on-line banking and password details.
